Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
