Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public personalities offered varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing controversial remarks that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have acted when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
