Texas Attorney General Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the makers of Tylenol, alleging the corporations hid potential risks that the drug presented to children's neurological development.

This legal action arrives four weeks after Donald Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between taking acetaminophen - referred to as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism in offspring.

The attorney general is suing J&J, which once produced the drug, the exclusive pain medication approved for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which now manufacturers it.

In a declaration, he stated they "betrayed America by making money from pain and promoting medication ignoring the dangers."

The manufacturer asserts there is insufficient reliable data linking acetaminophen to autism.

"These corporations lied for decades, knowingly endangering countless individuals to line their pockets," the attorney general, from the Republican party, stated.

Kenvue stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the spread of false claims on the reliability of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the welfare of US mothers and children."

On its online platform, Kenvue also said it had "continuously evaluated the applicable studies and there is lacking reliable evidence that demonstrates a verified association between taking acetaminophen and autism."

Groups speaking for physicians and medical practitioners share this view.

The leading OB-GYN organization has declared acetaminophen - the key substance in acetaminophen - is among limited choices for women during pregnancy to address discomfort and fever, which can create serious health risks if ignored.

"In more than two decades of studies on the consumption of acetaminophen in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has conclusively proven that the usage of paracetamol in any period of pregnancy causes brain development issues in offspring," the association said.

The court filing references recent announcements from the previous government in arguing the medication is potentially dangerous.

In recent weeks, the former president raised alarms from health experts when he advised women during pregnancy to "struggle intensely" not to consume Tylenol when unwell.

The FDA then released a statement that medical professionals should contemplate reducing the use of acetaminophen, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the medication and autism in minors has remains unverified.

Health Secretary RFK Jr, who manages the FDA, had vowed in April to conduct "a massive testing and research effort" that would identify the source of autism spectrum disorder in a limited time.

But authorities warned that identifying a single cause of autism - thought by researchers to be the result of a complicated interplay of genetic and external influences - would not be simple.

Autism is a type of enduring cognitive variation and impairment that influences how individuals experience and engage with the world, and is diagnosed using physician assessments.

In his lawsuit, the attorney general - aligned with the former president who is campaigning for federal office - claims the manufacturer and J&J "deliberately disregarded and sought to suppress the evidence" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

This legal action attempts to require the firms "eliminate any marketing or advertising" that claims acetaminophen is safe for pregnant women.

This legal action echoes the grievances of a assembly of mothers and fathers of young ones with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took legal action against the producers of acetaminophen in two years ago.

The court dismissed the lawsuit, saying research from the plaintiffs' authorities was inconclusive.
